System Requirements

Operating Systems Support

The SysInfo API has been designed and tested to run on the following Microsoft operating systems

• Windows XP
• Windows Server 2003
• Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
• Windows Server 2008
• Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)

Non-Windows operating systems are not supported. The example source code and the DLL were built using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, but any IDE that supports DLL linking should be compatible.

Hard Disk Support (for SMART APIs)

For the SMART set of APIs, a hard drive that supports SMART is required. The following hard drives have been tested successfully with the SysInfo SMART APIs:

• ATA (IDE/SATA) hard drives
• USB hard drives (older USB hard drives may not be supported)
• FireWire hard drives (older FireWire hard drives may not be supported)
• Drives configured as software RAID via Windows Disk Management

Drives connected via SCSI or hardware RAID are not supported.
