Server Processes

Before you start the PureLoad Console, you need to have the following PureLoad server processes running:

• Naming
  The Naming server is used to control other servers and the central point of control in the runtime environment.
• Taskspace
  The taskspace server is where the defined scenarios are stored and controlled during a load test session. Also responsible for initializing parameters generated by parameter generators.
• Manager
  The manager process that will host workers (and worker threads). You must have one manager per host that will be used to generate load.

Typically you run the Naming process and tasks space process on one host in your local network and as many Manager processes on several hosts as required.

Starting

How to start the servers depends on the operating system you are using:

• Windows
  Locate the PureLoad sub menu in the Start menu and select the entry for the server to be started.
• Linux/Unix/Mac OS X
  Open a shell and change directory to the PureLoad installation directory. Execute  one of the programs in the bin directory: bin/naming, bin/taskspace or bin/manager.
  

The server processes executes in a shell (or command window) and shows information when starting. Typically something like this example, starting the naming process:

It's important to make sure that the server is started, using the expected IP address. If not, you need to change the properties controlling this.
